The Association for Retail Environments launched two apps for the groups' search function that connects retailers to A.R.E.-member suppliers and designers.
The search function, Supplier | Connect, has both desktop and mobile app versions. The desktop app is an interactive directory that sits on the user's computer desktop for access without using an Internet browser. The app updates itself automatically with the latest supplier data and links to the latest industry news from the showroom page. It also allows the user to search in 11 different categories, viewing the company's contact info, or clicking directly to the member's website. The app's mobile version allows for Smartphone browsing through product/service categories and also links directly to the company's website. Users can bookmark favorites, schedule visits, track companies visited and keep notes on them, A.R.E. says.
More information on how to download the apps is available on A.R.E.'s website.

Q: In our manufacturing of mouldings, we use red oak and are in the process of trying to monitor casehardening. What is the easiest test to do for this? Prong? Cup? Other? Also, what is the frequency recommended for doing this test? And should the supplier be able to provide us with this information normally based on their testing or drying process?
Q: What is ring shake? How do we detect it in our oak lumber? Does this shake cause a bad odor or other manufacturing problems?
