Blum comments on current trends in cabinet hardware.
Blum's Aventos lift system is drawing interest from customers.
What's new in hardware? We asked one of the major manufacturers to comment on where they are seeing interest from consumers. Dennis Poteat, marketing communications manager at Blum, Inc., told CabinetMakerFDM that the products that are getting the most interest from customers are the ones with Blumotion built in.
"We just released the final hinges in the full line of Clip top Blumotion hinges with built in Blumotion," he said. "Now, a cabinetmaker has all the concealed hinges he would use in almost any kitchen available to him with the soft close built in: thick door, aluminum door, angled hinges, bifold and standard 110 degree euro hinges. In 2011 we will be launching our Compact Blumotion hinges which have the same built-in soft-close in a smaller concealed face frame hinge. Many manufacturers have already signed on to start using them this summer and it will be available in distribution this winter." Blum will have these hinges at their booth at KBIS in April.
"Tandem plus Blumotion concealed runners are still heavy hitters for us," Poteat said. "The quality of soft close and motion, high capacity and durability are the factors that win people over. The fact that it is a "Made in the USA" product is also something we are very proud of.
"The Aventos lift system is our fastest-growing product line. We found that it must be installed in a showroom so that people can try it out before they will buy it, but once they do, they are hooked. The message that it gets the door out of the way wile you are working in the kitchen really resonates with kitchen enthusiasts. The ease of opening and the soft closing are two other user favorites.
"We are launching two new soft closing waste/recycle drawer solutions at KBIS, one based on Tandem with wood drawers and one based on Tandembox. These are bottom mount drop in solutions that are easy to install and are available with our Servo-Drive touch-to-open feature.
